Recently we have been working at this period home in the Roundhay area of Leeds. The elevations had been repointed with a hard cement mortar, that was not allowing the stone to breathe and was therefore detrimental to the stonework.
We carefully ran a thin blade through the hard cement pointing with a mechanical grinder. The hard cement pointing was then chipped out using hand tools, taking care not to damage the stonework.
The open joints were then washed out and repointed back using a lime mortar mix. Lime mortar is much kinder to your stonework, it allows moisture to leave through the joints.
The finished repointing can be seen below.

We will then be in touch to arrange a visit and to provide you with a free quotation.
