Here at BRC Leeds Ltd we frequently have the pleasure of working on Listed Properties. Recently we have been repointing the facade of this grade II listed period home, near Knaresborough, with a lime mortar mix.
A lime mortar mix is generally recommended, over cement pointing, as it allows moisture to escape from the joints and is therefore better for the stonework, allowing it to breathe.
The introduction of cement in the 19th Century saw a decline in the use of lime mortars, however today the benefits of lime mortar are being fully appreciated by period property owners and a lime mortar mix is our preferred mortar to point with.
Please contact us vis our ‘Contact Us‘ tab if you are interested in our lime mortar pointing services.
We will then be in touch to arrange a visit and to provide you with a free quotation.
