The stonework to the chimneys, at these period properties in Chapel Allerton, Leeds, had become badly eroded over time and were in need of replacement.
Our masons dismantled the eroded, and unstable, stonework and rebuilt the chimney stacks inserting newly tooled stone to match the surrounding original stonework. The chimneys were then re-flaunched to allow rain water to drain.
A tooled finish is where the stone’s face has corrugations from a cutting tool, or chisel, run in straight parallel strokes, as seen here.
